I knew for a long time that I wanted to become a teacher but it wasn't until my first year at the UofA that I was introduced to Family and Consumer Sciences. I knew right away that it was the field I wanted to teach in. It was the best choice I ever made while in college. I am currently teaching at San Luis High School in San Luis, Arizona and I sure love it. I became a teacher because I truly love teaching and working with children. I love what I do everyday and I still cant believe that I get to give students the gift of an education, and there is nothing more valuable than that. Jessica was recently chosen "Best New Teacher" at San Luis and has been entered in the Yuma, Arizona regional "Best New Teacher" competition.

Family and Consumer Sciences has taught me how to create a learning environment that promotes personal growth and leadership development by focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader. I am able to use exciting, integrated curriculum in the areas of: Life Connection, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Child Development, and Culinary arts. It is by teaching FACS that we facilitate each student's
success with the complexities of life.

I come from a long line of educators and we all agree on one thing, although teaching can be frustrating at times, the rewards out weigh the frustrations tenfold. Our children need quality educators to lead them on their path to adulthood. After researching my possibilities as a teacher, I am proud of my choice to become a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. This field is a phenomenal way to hold students interests about life and living. I teach my students that the possibilities are endless!

I want to be the type of teacher that can link lesson plans to real life situations that they can relate to. Not only do I want them to learn the curriculum but life skills as well. I am currently teaching at Alta Vista Charter School in Tucson.

I love teaching and Family and Consumer Science Education courses are the best topics to cover! Whether the subject is childcare and development, life connections, or fashion designing (my favorite), I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and positive outlook with young men and women. I believe that dreams can come true and absolutely every person has the potential to succeed. FACS Ed guides students to identify and achieve their goals and I love helping them. I love teaching! I am currently employed full time at Tucson Accelerated Charter School.

I want to educate student's life skills and prepare them to go out into the workforce. The students will know how to apply for a job, how to respond during an interview, and will successfully obtain a meaningful career. I am currently employed at San Carlos Middle School, in San Carlos Arizona.

I feel that I truly have a connection with students on an individual and entire classroom basis. I loved my student teaching experience at Pueblo High School in Tucson. Now I am in Des Moines, Iowa teaching FACS at Amos Hiatt Middle School There are about 600 students at the school with around 50% minority. They are on a wheel program here, so that means that I get the 6th and 7th graders for 9 weeks and the 8th graders for 12 weeks. By the end of the year I will know almost the whole school because they will have taken my class.
