The School of Family and Consumer Sciences administers a variety of scholarships for which only FSHD and FACS students are eligible. Scholarship recipients are most likely to be students with strong records of community or campus leadership, service and academic achievement.
Some scholarships are based on financial need or minority status. Students are expected to enroll for a minimum of 12 units. To be considered for a scholarship, students should complete the CALS Online Scholarship Application.

Priority consideration for fall and spring scholarship allocations will be given to applications received by 4 pm on the Thursday before the University of Arizona spring break. Questions can be referred to your major advisor.
Ruth Reed Cowden Scholarship
Source: A gift from the estate of Ruth R. Cowden, a graduate of The University of Arizona and a long-time supporter of our College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and School of Family and Consumer Sciences.
Eligibility: Outstanding graduate or undergraduate students in various major fields of family and consumer sciences and nutritional sciences

Ruth Hall Memorial Award
Source: Friends and associates of the late Dr. Ruth C. Hall, former director of the University of Arizona School of Family and Consumer Sciences.
Eligibility: Scholastically outstanding upper-division students in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences that demonstrate leadership abilities in areas related to family and consumer sciences.

Reuben & Virginia Hess Scholarship
Source: A gift from Mr. and Mrs. Reuben M. Hess of Phoenix, Arizona.
Eligibility: Juniors, Seniors or graduate level students Residents of Arizona only. Award shared with Plant Sciences.

Amy Jean Knorr Scholarship
Source: An endowment from Amy Jean Knorr, Professor Emeritus, School of Family and Consumer Sciences, University of Arizona.
Eligibility: Junior, Senior or Graduate student, Outstanding Academic Achievement, FACS major (with potential for professional performance in the field).

Ruth S. and Thomas J. Nesbitt Scholarship
Source: The Ruth F. and Thomas J. Nesbitt Endowment Fund.
Eligibility: Outstanding undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in programs of study in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences, 3.2 or above GPA.

Eligibility: Undergraduate at an Arizona university, at least a second semester sophomore majoring in areas of Family and Consumer Science. Award based on student's academic, extra-curriculum and professional excellence.

Josephine and Benjamin Webber Trusts
Established to support female students from Arizona mining communities who were interested in studying “home economics” curriculums, the Webbers established two trusts. Their desire was to ensure that Hispanic women living in Arizona mining communities (finishing high school in an Arizona mining community) who were interested in studying a home economics curriculum be given preference for the funds from their Trusts. Asian American Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Association
The Asian American Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Association annually provides scholarship opportunities for enrolled Asian Pacific American students at the University of Arizona. Often these are merit based awards for which applicants will be evaluated based on outstanding academic performance and other commendable academic related and/or community related activities.
