Core Faculty

Emily Butler is an assistant professor in Family Studies and Human Development at the University of Arizona. She completed her Ph.D. at Stanford University. Her research focuses on the relationship and health consequences of emotion regulation -- in other words, what happens when we attempt to influence our own or our social partners' emotions in the context of a relationship or social interaction.

Melissa Curran is an assistant professor in Family Studies and Human
Development at the University of Arizona. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on how early
representations within the family of origin (attachment) impact current
and later marital, child, and familial outcomes.

Graduate Students

 

Leslie Bosch is a doctoral student in the Family Studies and Human Development program at the University of Arizona.  She is interested in how early parental relationships impact identity formation and the development of epistemic assumptions across the life span.

 

 

Deborah Casper has a background in counseling.  She earned her BS in psychology, an MA in counseling from the University of Maryland and she is a currently enrolled as a doctoral student in the Family Studies and Human Development program at the University of Arizona.  Deborah's research interests are vast; however, she plans to focus on the connection between attachment and psychopathology in pre-adolescent and adolescent populations.

 

 

Casey Totenhagen is a doctoral student in Family Studies and Human Development at the University of Arizona. She is interested in studying the relationships of dating, married, and gay/lesbian couples. More specifically, she is interested in such predictors and outcomes as daily hassles, stress, relationship quality, affect, and sexuality within relationships.

Megan Clarkson

 

Hilary Greenspan was born in Phoeniz, AZ. She is a Junior at the
University of Arizona with a major is psychology and a minor in Family Studies and Human Development. She is very interested in learning more about health, emotions, and relationships while being involved in the HER study of obesity in married couples.
