RCSC Professional Program Application for Admission Guidelines

Access to RCSC 300 and 400-level courses requires admission to the RCSC Professional Program. Admission to the RCSC Professional Program is both competitive and selective. You must complete all pre-professional program requirements before beginning the application process.

Application for admission to the RCSC Professional Program is conducted by the Division of Retailing and Consumer Sciences in accordance with the policies outlined below. Applications for admission occurs along the following for 2008-2009:

Fall 2008 admission
Applications accepted:
January 21st – 25th, 2008
May 22- June 2nd, 2008
July 10th -15th, 2008

Spring 2009 admission
Applications accepted:
September 1st – 5th, 2008
December 26th – 29th, 2008
January 12th – 14th, 2009

The number of applicants admitted is based on the admission criteria outlined below and is limited by the space and faculty resources of the RCSC Division. Approximately 70 to 100 applicants will be admitted each academic year

Admission Criteria Considered:

. Cumulative GPA
. Competitive performance in RCSC Prerequisite Courses
. Completion of RCSC Prerequisite Courses relative to total earned units

. Leadership, work experience, extra and co-curricular activities, career objectives
. Professional quality letter of application and resume

. Submission of complete application packet by application deadline. Students must submit all requested information by the deadline.
No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.

 

Minimum Application Requirements:

Students applying to the professional phase of the program must complete the minimum requirements prior to filing an application for admission. These requirements include the following:

. Completion of 42 units of course work acceptable to The University of Arizona.
. Attainment of a minimum 2.6 GPA over 42 units with at least 12 units earned at The University of Arizona. (If less than 12 U of A units have been completed, the GPA from all transfer institutions will be used.)
. Completed the following RCSC Prerequisite Courses

ECON 200 or equivalent
ACCT 200 or equivalent
MATH 115A or equivalent
PSYC 230 or SOC 274 or equivalent
FCS 120, ABE 120, MIS 111 or equivalent
RCSC 214

. Attendance at a RCSC New/Transfer Student Orientation session before applying to the RCSC Professional Program.

.Transfer Students : Please review the preferred sequence of foundation courses in The University of Arizona Community College Transfer Guide . Transfer students may apply for admission to the RCSC Professional Program during their last semester at their community college even if they have not been officially accepted for admission to The University of Arizona. The University of Arizona application must, however, be in progress, and all RCSC pre-professional program requirements must be completed before beginning the application process. Filing an Application for Admission to the RCSC Professional Program

Applications for admission to the RCSC Professional Program are due according to the deadlines below for 2008-2009:

Fall Semester - May 22, 2008 - June 2, 2008
Winter Session - December 19, 2008 - December 22, 2008
Spring Semester - December 22, 2008 - January 2, 2009
Pre-Session/Summer Session I - TBD
Summer Session II - TBD

Students may apply for admission to the RCSC Professional Program up to two times.
