| The Tonto Weed Management Area (TWMA), a non-profit organization, exists to facilitate the implementation of a consistent and coordinated an integrated weed management program to control noxious weed infestations throughout the TWMA, whose boundaries are identical with the Tonto Natural Resource Conservation District (NRCD). The TWMA is a partnership effort among many entities, including the Tonto NRCD, Hohokam RC&D, Young Community Council, Arizona Department of Transportation, Arizona Department of Agriculture, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S.D.A. Forest Service, Salt River Project, Bureau of Land Management, Arizona Game and Fish Department, Mogollon Sportsman’s Association, Gila County Board of Supervisors, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Rim Area Gardeners, Trails Association, High County Travelers, Payson Packers, Tonto Cattle Grower’s Association, Wildlife Foundation, Payson Natural Resource Committee, Ducks Unlimited, Gila County Growers Association, and concerned citizens.

WEED MANAGEMENT AREA (WMA) is a distinct area based on: * in which an organized team of individuals and organizations responsible for weed management; * cooperatively develop common management objectives, facilitate effective treatment and coordinate efforts; * to control or prevent the spread of weeds within the area. |
