"I had the personality of a shopping bag."Then one day at the mall it hit me. I was conforming, not contributing. So I picked up a new pastime. Now I spend one Saturday morning a month raising organic food for the hungry. And since fresh fruits and vegetables are important to everyone, local food banks get the food the same day we pick it. I know the time I volunteer matters because we help feed the 25 percent of Arizona's children facing hunger." With businesses and neighborhoods donating empty lots for gardens, and people like me helping plant and harvest, the food we raise goes a long way. Think you don't have time to help? Take a look in your closet. To learn more about how you or your organization can donate time or resources call (602) 732-7910. |
