Introduction to the Physical and Biogeography of the Sawtooth Mountains

Flora identified for the Sawtooth Mountains:

The following identifications were made primarily using the keys to Arizona flora in Kearney & Peebles (1960), supplemented by monographic treatments or other texts and keys when available and/or necessary. Nomenclature follows Lehr (1978) unless more recent revisions have been made, then names given follow University of Arizona herbarium specimens and/or personal communication with herbarium staff; Zomlefer (1994) was also consulted in this regard. Descriptions, particularly regarding range and seasonality, derive from several sources (see Bibliography) as well as personal observations for the Sawtooth Mountains and particular specimens. Plant families are listed alphabetically below, but are arranged in the text of this document in the order given by Kearney & Peebles (1960), with minor revisions attempting to reflect current classification.
