The mission of Arizona 4-H Youth Development is to
provide educational opportunities for youth to become capable and contributing
members of a global society.
In fulfilling this mission, the Arizona Cooperative
Extension 4-H Youth Development Program extends membership to youth
five to eight years of age. Children must be five and not have turned
nine by January 1st of the current 4-H program year to be eligible for
this program.
Cloverbuds is a non-competitive educational program
for youth five to eight years of age within the Arizona 4-H Youth Development
program. For reasons of safety and to remove any perception of competion,
the handling of large and small stock is strictly prohibited until a
member is considered a Junior in 4-H, at which time he/she can then
enter into any type of program as long as there is a certified 4-H Leader
in their club for that program. Reptiles are also not allowed since
they are known to carry salmonella.
In support of the Arizona 4-H Youth Development mission,
the purpose of the Cloverbuds program is designed to help these youth
learn social skills, participate in non-competitive educational projects
and activities, develop self-esteem and build family strengths.
Cloverbuds 4-H Clubs must use educational materials
authorized and approved by the 4-H Youth Development Agent. This policy
is based on youth development research for children five to eight years
of age.
ENROLLMENT:
Cloverbuds may be organized as part of an existing 4-H Club.
A school, day care center, community center, church, neighborhood,
family, etc. may sponsor and organize a Cloverbud 4-H group.
Cloverbuds may participate only through such organized learning
groups under the guidance of a qualified and certified 4-H Youth Development
leader/volunteer.
PROJECTS:
Cloverbuds will use educational materials authorized and approved
by the 4-H Youth Development Agent.
Cloverbud's projects are not entered into competition.
Special activities are conducted just for Cloverbuds.
Projects may be exhibited at appropriate Extension approved Cloverbud
events. Youth may be presented participation awards only with recognition
based upon completing and exhibiting the product. No judging or placing
shall be permitted.
Cloverbud Participation Certificates are available from the 4-H
Office.
