of Arizona Pesticide Training and Information Office, Pest Control Certification
Administered by two different agencies:
a. Arizona Department of Agriculture - examines and
certifies private and commercial AGRICULTURAL pesticide applicators,
government employees who apply pesticides, and public health pest control
applicators. Nursery workers fall here and are considered to be agricultural
operations. Requires 3 hours of continuing education units per year.
b. Arizona Structural Pest Control Commission - responsible
for COMMERCIAL pesticide applications in and around structures.
Requires 6 hours of training per year. SPCC licenses and certifies
individuals who apply pesticides in urban situations. This includes
landscapers, roadway workers, golf course workers, etc., but NOT nursery
workers. All applicators in the structural industry are considered
to be commercial applicators.
