I have a mature violet hardenbergia. It is currently blooming but there are many dry leaves and "dead" vines. It seems that the new and healthy vines wrap around the others and kill them off. While I have tried to cut off the dead vines it is nearly impossible since the healthy shoots are so intertwined. Should this plant have been pruned prior to the blooming? How far back should it be cut? Please help me with the care of this beautiful plant. Thanks.
