- 6. National Extension Association Elects Sharon Hoelscher Day President

Sharon Hoelscher Day, extension educator with the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in Maricopa County, was recently elected president of the National Extension Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS).
The NEAFCS includes community educators from Cooperative Extension in all 50 states.
Delegates at the recent Galaxy II conference in Salt Lake City elected Day. Day is a community educator in nutrition, food safety and health promotion. Some of her programming outreach efforts include Bone Builders, an osteoporosis prevention education program for women of all ages; the Safe Food 2010 conference; and the Master Consumer Advisors volunteer phone outreach.
As a professional association, NEAFCS represents more than 2,600 members in various disciplines within the extension family and consumer sciences, including consumer and family education, financial literacy, food and nutrition, food safety and other extension specialties.
The organization instructs its professionals to empower individuals and families in making informed decisions about their lives.
The organization's new consumer Web site, www.learningandlivingwell.org, features family, consumer, and nutrition information from the Cooperative Extension system around the country.
