- 9. Live Butterfly Exhibit at Tucson Botanical Gardens
- A live butterfly exhibit will be open through January 30 at the Tucson Botanical Gardens.
The butterflies are raised by butterfly farmers in Central and South America, Florida, the Philippines, Thailand and Africa.
Henry Hagedorn of the UA Entomology Department is the Butterfly Exhibit Director. "The display will be in the tropical greenhouse in the Botanical Gardens," he says. "Visitors will learn about butterflies, and how they live and grow. They will also see the connection between butterflies and plants through a special exhibit of the native Queen butterfly."
In addition, visitors will learn how butterfly farming helps preserve the tropical rain forest. The goal of the butterfly exhibit is to allow people to get up close and personal with these beautiful insects. They will experience the beauty of the natural world, its diversity, and the interconnectedness of life.
