    9. Bone Builders, UA's Cooperative Extension, Offer Training on Osteoporosis

    Wednesday, 22 May 2002

Bone Builders, an osteoporosis education program targeting women as well as older men, and the UA's Cooperative Extension, will be offering a training via teleconference with on-site activities in Tucson, Phoenix and Flagstaff.

There is no charge for the training, but participants must agree to share osteoporosis prevention information in their community by: doing five to six activities per year such as presentations, newsletter articles, health fairs, and posters; keep records and report on activities on a quarterly basis; read bi-monthly newsletter and attend regular update meetings.

Osteoporosis is a disease that causes fractures, disability and possibly death for one of every two women and one in eight older men, caused by not getting enough calcium and weight bearing exercise, especially at an early age.
