- 2. Changes in UA/CALS Administrative Appointments

We are pleased to share with you several administrative appointments that will sustain The University of Arizona's forward momentum in important strategic areas and leadership units.
Eugene G. Sander will assume responsibility as Acting Executive Vice President and Provost May 28-June 30, 2007, during the period that George H. Davis will be on a well-deserved vacation. Effective July 1, 2007, and until a new provost can assume his or her responsibilities, Dr. Sander will be Executive Vice President and Provost. Dr. Sander's effective experience as Vice President for Outreach and Dean, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will serve the University well in his new role.
As Dr. Sander fills the vital position of Executive Vice President and Provost, Dr. Colin Kaltenbach, currently Vice Dean, will assume responsibilities as Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, effective July 1, 2007, and until the time that Dr. Sander returns to his decanal appointment. Michael Proctor, currently Associate Vice President for Outreach, will serve as Vice President for Outreach for an interim period, beginning July 1, 2007, and ending when the next provost arrives on campus and Dr. Sander resumes his vice presidential duties.
Michele Norin, currently serving as Executive Director of the Center for Computing and Information Technologies, will assume additional responsibilities as Interim Chief Information Officer, effective June 1, 2007. She will fulfill these duties until a new Chief Information Officer arrives on campus.
Dr. Kaltenbach, Mr. Proctor, and Ms. Norin will all report to Dr. Sander.
We are fortunate to have great leadership strength and depth at The University of Arizona that allows us to move through transition periods in full stride.
