Do you or your family have a drought contingency plan already in place?
Although Arizona residents aren't required to make such a plan, in 2005 House Bill 2277 began requiring all of the state's water providers to file a plan for facing extended drought.
Gregg Garfin, deputy director for Science Translation & Outreach at the University of Arizona's Institute of the Environment, helped to draft Arizona's statewide drought plan.
Garfin also works to bridge the science-society interface, which means finding ways to accelerate the acceptance and adoption of scientific findings about climate change with the public, including a variety of resource managers, civic planners, and policy makers throughout the region.
