Learn About 4-H

Join 4-H

Joining a club is a great way to get involved in 4-H. Contact the Pinal Cooperative Extension office in Casa Grande (520)- 836-5221ext:201.

4-H is the non-formal youth development education program of the United States Department of Agriculture and the University of Arizona. Whether you live in the city, the suburbs, or on a farm/ranch, you can belong to the 4-H Program. 4-H helps youth develop through the mentoring and involvement of parents, teens, and other volunteers. They involve youth in organizing and conducting learning experiences in a community setting.

  • Hands-on Learning is the basic design of 4-H educational programs. Participants learn by doing projects that are designed to fit the needs of youth at different ages.
  • Benefits offered by 4-H programs have been tested with diverse audiences and have met stringent educational objectives and are researched based.
  • Life Skills are part of all programs. Most have been designed to meet one or more of the following life skills:
    • Build Self Confidence
    • Learn to Make Decisions
    • Develop an Inquiring Mind
    • Relate to Others
    • Develop Concern for the Community
  • Easy to implement curricula has been designed for non-professional use, so that it is easy for anyone to pick up and use at club meetings, after-school programs or in the classroom.
  • Cross Age Learning is important in 4-H. Most 4-H programs have been designed so that older youth can learn skills and teach younger participants.

Mission

The Mission of Arizona 4-H Youth Development is to provide educational opportunities for youth to become capable and contributing members of a global society. In support of this mission, we will:

  • provide formal and non-formal community-focused experiential learning
  • develop skills that benefit youth throughout life, project work, personal development opportunities, leadership and citizenship
  • foster leadership and volunteerism in youth and adults

Pledge

I pledge:
My HEAD to clearer thinking,
My HEART to greater loyalty,
My HANDS to larger service, and
My HEALTH for better living,
For my club, my community, my country, and my world.

Motto

"To Make the Best Better."

Slogan

"Learning by Doing" emphasizes the goal of 4-H members to improve themselves, their work, and their communities.
