"The Science of Watering"
Lecture July 23 at Arboretum
How much water do popular landscaping species such as Lantana, Myoporum or
Moss Verbena need to stay healthy and look acceptable in this climate? How
much water is just right...or too much? The once-a-month lecture series at
Boyce Thompson Arboretum continues July 23 with a presentation by Arboretum
staff horticulturist Steve Carter who will explain BTA's eighteen-year
research project of ground cover plant irrigation needs. This new series of
presentations and slide shows is offered on the fourth Saturday of each month
at 1 p.m. in the lecture room of the historic Smith Building. Regular park
daily admission of $7.50 for adults includes weekend guided tours such as the
guided butterfly walk at 10:30 a.m. that same morning, but does not include
these lectures. There's an addition fee of $5 to attend a lecture (or $3 to
Friends-of-the-Arboretum annual members) and pre-registration is suggested as
the lecture room only accomodates 35 people. Reserve a space in the audience
by calling 520.689.2723 or via email to fernando at ag.arizona.edu. For other
details call the recorded message phone 520.689.2811 or explore the website
