Hello Debbie and all

Well, I guess that I am an old fuddy-duddy, but I don't particularly care
for buzz-words and contemporary jargon when naming something that one
presumes will last for a long time. I can understand the attraction
of using terminology that reflects the mood of the moment, but wait
another few years and those words won't be popular any more.

So, my personal preference remains the International Journal of
Agricultural Information. If the QB Board wants to emphasize
that this is a journal primarily for and about agricultural librarians,
then I can understand adding a term to reflect that, although Managers
would not be my first choice. "Manager" as a term carries
way too much connotation of a corporate board room and top down control
for my taste. As a group, we are incredibly networked and
collaborative, distributed, independent, and reflective of local
conditions and customs. Isn't there a term that better
describes what we are than "managers"??

Just my two cents worth
Cheers
I see that there has been lots of participation in proposing alternative
names for the QB. Let me add another one to the list. There are two
aspects that I think should be reflected in the title to distinguish this
from other journals in the domain--one is the emphasis on IAALD's
international status. Words, other than "international" which
reflect this status that are being used more frequently now are
"global" or "world". These two words denote more of a
concept of a networked, integrated, inter-linked, trans-boundary approach
(which is part of IAALD's new strategy), while the word
"international" is more linked to institutions (which IAALD is
not).

Second, since this is the journal of a professional association (rather
than a journal on content per se)that focuses on linking professionals
and exchanging information and good practices, among other things, I
would like to see the emphasis on the target audience in the title.
Putting these two ideas together you might have the following options for
titles:

Global Agricultural Information Manager
World Agricultural Information Manager

I think I prefer the first one.

Hello Debbie,

It is an excellent idea of renaming the title.

"International Journal of Agricultural Information" appears to
be
appropriate with the changing times.

However, how about a bit of extension of this title as

" International Journal of Agricultural Information
Specialists" ?
