2006 Vegetable Report

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at the University of Arizona has a long tradition of producing Vegetable Reports. We have been doing so for more than 20 years. What follow are the results of applied vegetable research conducted by my fellow employees (in one case, an employee of the University of California). While we are faculty members of the University of Arizona, it is part of our job to directly serve members of Arizona’s agricultural community. We are concerned that the information we generate be of immediate importance to our clientele. We have two ways of ensuring that this is true. The first of these is through communication with the CALS Vegetable IPM Advisory Committee. This year’s members included Kevin Adams, Steve Alameda, Art Anderson, Mike Edwards, Steve Fenn, Bill Fox, Todd Mayhew, Dennis Monypeny, Jeff Nigh, Jack Peterson, Rick Rademacher, Jesse Richardson, Tim Thompson, and Vince Wavra. This group meets annually in Yuma to discuss the contents of this report as well as other issues of interest. I am also thankful to members for their useful comments on the value of our programs and for their advice concerning the direction of future research and information delivery programs.
