The USDA/ARS Laboratory of Aflatoxin Reduction in Crops of Dr. Peter Cotty is seeking undergraduate students for biological aid positions to support current research projects. These students will have a unique opportunity to learn microbiological techniques and the use of laboratory instruments while gaining experience in a laboratory actively engaged in research that has global impacts on the food and fiber industries. The position is an important part of the laboratory’s research program and the students filling it will be required to be punctual, responsible, reliable, careful and honest.
These positions require U.S. citizen students of at least 16 years of age, enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. They must be in a good academic standing and working toward a degree related to any field of science. It is also required that students work at least 15 hours per week while school is in session, work full time when classes are not in session, and during summer break.
Work schedules will be flexible according to each student’s class schedule.
Students may be required to work periodically in agricultural fields.
The positions pay over $10.50 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications. Holiday and vacation pay may increase the compensation. Return the filled-out application with a copy of transcripts (an unofficial one is acceptable) to the attention of Dr. Cotty at the same location (Shantz 115). These positions are available only for U.S. Citizens.
