Aflatoxin Reduction in Crops (ARC) Aflatoxin Management through Improved Understanding of Aflatoxin-producing Fungi and the Aflatoxin Contamination Process
Mult-year influences of 1st commercial application
Influence of a single application (10lb colonized wheat seed/ acre) of AF36 on the composition of the A. flavus community resident in soil of a commercial field cropped in series to cotton, wheat, lettuce, broccoli, and melons over a 3 year period. Even after 3 years the highly aflatoxin-producing S strain is reduced and the applied atoxigenic strain is increased compared to pretreatment frequencies. Values are averages of 12 replicats. To produce this data over 550 isolates where characterized by vegetative compatibility.
See: How do we know where the atoxigenic strain is?
