Heat tolerance:

Turfgrass heat tolerance is difficult to determine in the field. Laboratory techniques are being developed to accurately determine turfgrass heat tolerance.  Turfgrass heat tolerance is being determined by monitoring leaf cell integrity following exposure to heat shock (left). Results are checked with whole-plant tolerance of turfgrasses exposed to controlled high temperatures in environmental growth chambers (right).
