![]() It’s fruit tree pruning season and The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension, Yavapai County is offering three free deciduous fruit tree pruning demonstrations conducted by Extension Agent, Jeff Schalau. Come and learn why, when, and how to prune your backyard fruit trees. Demonstrations will cover apples, pears, plums, peaches, nectarines, cherries, and more. Fertilization, irrigation and fruit thinning will also be discussed. Directions: take Hwy 89 to Chino Valley, turn west on Road 2 South, continue about 1.3 miles and turn right (north) on Maricopa St. The McLandress home is the fourth developed property on the left. Directions: take Hwy 260 (General Crook Trail) to Salt Mine Rd, travel west on Salt Mine Rd for about 5.1 miles past Windy Point (where the road climbs over a hill) and to the straight section of road running north/south. South Silver Rd is on the left about 1/2 mile down the straight section of road. The Marmaduke Orchard is about 500 ft from Salt Mine Rd at the end of S Silver Rd.
