Plant Description

Origin: Native
General Description: Evergreen. Has numerous, rigid, grass-like leaves growing from large, woody basal stems.
Height: 3 to 6 feet     Width: To 8 feet


Habitat

Plant Communities: Interior Chaparral, Semidesert Grasslands, Pinyon Juniper Woodland
Elevation: 3000 - 6500 feet


Flowers

Color: White   Shape: Other in elongated clusters     Tubular: N   Flowering Period: May - Jun
Description: Creamy white, 1/8 inch wide, in dense plumelike, often bending or crooked, flowering cluster to 3 feet long.


Leaves

Leaf Color: Green   Type: other   Shape: Other   Margin: Other   Attachment: Basal   Hairs: N  
Leaf Description: Tough, grasslike with no marginal spines. Loose fibers on margins at tips. Leaves are 4 feet long, 1/2 inch wide in large, basal rosette.


Fruit

Color: White   Type: Capsule   Description: Seeds in papery fruit capsule to 3/8 inch in diameter.
