SCV-encoded Proteins
SCV-encoded proteins synthesized in an in vitro translation system
Photographs and illustrations can be viewed by clicking the highlited texts
- In vitro translation products of RCNMV RNA (lane 1), SCV virion RNA (lane 2), and SCV transcript synthesized
from a full-length infectious cDNA clone (lane 3) are resolved in 18.2% SDS polyacrylamide gel. Notice p57, p36, and p27
are translated from the virion RNA, but not from the the transcript. These three proteins are expressed from subgenomic
(messenger0 RNA which are encapsidated in the virions. Only p27 and p87, the two overlapping ORFs at the 5' of the
genomic RNA are translated from the transcripts. p57, a protein encoded by 2nd ORF inframe with the 1st ORF is not very
visible in this particular gel. p87 is a fusion protein from the 1st p27 ORF into the 2nd p57 ORF.
