Abstract:
This is a point shapefile of the transect locations for study FS 1706-12. Each location is the starting point of a transect.

Purpose:
The Forest Service Study FSRM 1706-12 transect locations were created to compare vegetation and grazing capacities on mesquite-free and mesquite-infested semidesert ranges in southern Arizona

Supplemental information:
This coverage was originally digitized from data manuscripted on USGS 7.5 minute maps from pinholes in aerial photos that had been used to locate the transects in field during the original study. These data were automated at the Advanced Resource Technology Lab in 1997.
