Description of the Project

The Stop School Pests project was initiated to address the need for a recognized, standardized, peer-reviewed national IPM training program for school communities.

The program is a collaborative effort that includes extension, university, government, private and non-profit organizations and individuals (see Committee Members).

Stop School Pests IPM education materials include on-line and in-class instruction. Learning lessons for specific school community stakeholder groups exist including: school administrators, facility managers, pest management professionals/school IPM coordinators, landscape and grounds staff, custodians, maintenance staff, nurses, food service staff and teachers. Exams will be used to allow successful students to receive proficiency certificates. Students completing courses, but not undertaking tests are eligible for certificates of completion. Materials are housed on-line and may be downloaded free of charge http://articles.extension.org/pages/73468/self-paced-learning-page-for-urban-ipm. Education event templates are available on-line. In-class materials are formatted using PowerPoint and instructors are permitted to modify the materials for their own purposes.
