“They’re loads of fun,” says Carla, “and Arboretum participants will learn to paint very simplified scenes from the arboretum, taking home with them a piece of memorabilia of their experiences in the lovely gardens.” Each month will have its own theme: July-Hummingbirds, August-The Dodge Truck by the Wool Drover’s Shed, September-The Outback Bridge.
Enrollment of $35 for Arboretum members and $47.50 for nonmembers includes art supplies to use during the session, plus two hours of coaching and encouragement from Carla Keaton. Signup by phone; have a credit card ready and call Arboretum staff during daytime business hours at 520.689.2723.

Need more encouragement to signup? Here's how one happy painter described the class last year:

"We enjoyed Chuck's class and loved that it was held at our very favorite place: the Arboretum! Chuck is friendly and made the class fun. Because he allowed us the freedom to express our individual tastes through our paintings, we feel we brought home a unique piece of art...even though we all painted the same lizards. Friends and family are able to easily pick out who paintedwhich lizard with the comment that they can tell because each lizard matches the personality of the artist."

Local artist Chuck Davison invites all students from beginning to advanced to his classes ; he gives step-by-step instruction and coaching to help paint a colorful new design with each class.

Class fee is $35 (nonmembers pay the Arboretum a separate $12.50 for admission and entry); enrollment includes all art supplies you'll need for the class - and includes the day's admission, too.

Taught in the lecture room of the historic Smith Building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., enrollment includes canvas, paint, brushes, embellishments - plus light refreshments.

Children are welcome to register along with an adult chaperone; both must be registered and pre-paid for the class.
