DOES AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION COMPLIMENT GENERAL EDUCATION?

Relationship of Agricultural Education to General Education:

Agricultural education provides many opportunities for the development of abilities essential to accomplish the seven cardinal principles of education.

  1. Activities such as field trips, supervised experiences, youth organizations (FFA), and numerous other outdoor activities which contribute to the well-rounded student.

  2. Instruction develops abilities in constructive thinking and problem solving which enable students to have a better command of fundamental processes.

  3. Provides desirable training for healthy and positive home membership in that instruction includes problems associated with home and family living.

  4. Opportunities to receive guidance in agricultural related occupations help in career decisions.

  5. FFA activities provide potential for the development of leadership and citizenship abilities essential for a well-rounded, productive citizen.

  6. Agricultural education, through the FFA, provides activities for the development of many abilities essential to the worthy use of leisure time.

  7. Agricultural education contributes to the development of ethical character through the efforts of the teacher working with students in leadership, cooperation, community service, savings, recreation and experiential activities.
