What is Bt cotton?
The Cry1a gene of Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki is the gene inserted into the cultivars of Bt cotton grown in Arizona and elsewhere in the U.S. since 1996. The second generation of Bt cotton was registered in 2003 and contains the Cry1Ac toxin and a second Bt toxin, Cry2Ab.
