Description

Drought- and cold-deciduous shrubs to 5 ft (1.5 m) high. The bark is smooth and brown. Twigs are armed with prickles. Leaves are bipinnate with 1--5 pairs of pinnae. Each pinna has 3--7 pairs of leaflets. White flowers are produced in rounded inflorescences during the summer.

Habitat

Native to the Chihuahuan Desert region of southwestern Texas and northern Mexico where it is found on slopes and canyons.

Horticulture

Emory mimosa is not grown for landscaping. Its horticultural characteristics are similar to that of Mimosa biuncifera.
