Shakunthala “Shaku” Nair

Education

Master of Plant Protection and Pest Management (MPPPM) – University of Georgia, Athens GA, 2007

Ph.D. in Entomology – University of Georgia, Athens GA, 2011

Shaku is an entomologist experienced in Integrated Pest Management in natural and structural environments. She currently serves as Associate in Extension – Community IPM and is based at the Maricopa Ag. Center in Maricopa AZ. Her primary responsibilities include translational research on pest management and community education focused on national priorities (school integrated pest management), pests of public health concern (e.g. bed bugs and mosquitoes) as well as turf and landscape pests. Shaku coordinates the Community IPM Team, which is an interdisciplinary team of Extension and research faculty within the University of Arizona, and they develop and implement priority Extension programs for Community Integrated Pest Management (IPM) statewide.
