CALS Graduation Convocation

Congratulations graduate! You’ve done the work, created lifelong memories, and built enduring connections. Now reflect back, look forward, and celebrate your success! On behalf of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences we're pleased to invite all bachelor, master, and doctoral students to the 2019 CALS May Commencement Ceremony. We look forward to celebrating your achievements and welcoming you as the newest members of the CALS Alumni family.

CALS Graduation Convocation
Friday, May 10, 2019
McKale Memorial Center

  • Convocation begins at 9:00 am
  • Graduating student check-in begins at 7:30 am. Graduates must be checked in by 8:30 am.
  • Cap and gown are required; purchase these items at the UA BookStores


In order to be recognized as a graduating student at this event, all students must RSVP by May 3, 2019. 

Student Seating

  • Check-in begins at 7:30 am.
  • Graduates MUST check in before 8:30 am.
  • Time of event is 9:00 am.
  • Students MUST register prior to entering McKale Center in order to be recognized personally, on stage, during the ceremony.
  • All students will sit in the student section on the floor of McKale and will be recognized individually in the order that you are seated.
  • Graduating students will be organized by degree (PhD, Master's, Undergraduate) and by major.

Guest Seating

  • Guests DO NOT need to purchase tickets to attend.
  • This event is open to any and all friends and family of CALS graduating students.
  • The doors to McKale Center will open one hour prior to start time to allow early seating of guests.


  • Cap and gown are required; purchase these items at the UA BookStores

Clear Bag Policy

  • McKale Center enforces a strict clear bag policy. Review the Clear Bag Policy to ensure you are in compliance the day of the ceremony.


  • All graduates will have their name called, walk the stage, shake hands with college administration and have their photo taken. The Doctoral and Master's Commencement will include hooding by faculty mentors for those earning terminal degrees.
  • Students will have two professional photographs taken: one as they walk across the stage, a second after they exit the stage. Obtain these photographs through, 800-261-2576. 
  • The names of all graduating students who have completed and filed for degree candidacy will be printed in the Commencement program.
  • The ceremony is expected to last approximately 1.5 hours. 
  • The ceremony will end with a faculty procession leading graduating students out of the McKale Center.


Free parking is available in Cherry Garage for the CALS Graduation Convocation. Locate all parking options on the UA campus parking map.
