Today, more than ever, there is a need for knowledgeable and well-trained professionals to meet the needs of individuals and families as they face the life challenges of our complex and rapidly- changing society. In addition, the generation of new knowledge about family processes, interpersonal relationships, and lifespan human development is essential to inform these efforts. If you are interested in an academic program that will prepare you to make a difference in the lives of children, youth, adults, couples, and families, Family Studies and Human Development may be right for you.
With a professional undergraduate degree in family studies and human development from the Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences, our graduates are prepared with real-world experiences to explore careers in the fields of family health, criminal justice, psychology and other related areas (Read more and view statistics).
Our undergraduate program offers a high quality educational experience and hands-on learning opportunities. Our graduate program offers doctoral level training for students interested in pursuing research, teaching, or other professional careers in academic, public, and private-sector settings.
If you are a current UA student and decide that you are interested in pursuing an undergraduate major in Family Studies and Human Development (FSHD), you must complete an online information session.
