Retail Sales Manager

A Sales Manager is needed to oversee the development, purchasing, and operations of Rillito Race Track’s Merchandise Sales Department. Applicant should have some retail sales experience. Spanish language skills a plus. There will be on-line web sales, and a 10’x10’ portable sales booth at various farmers’ markets, festivals, etc. beginning in late November and running through April. There will also be an 8’x20’ gift shop in the Clubhouse and the portable sales booth open during each of the 14 race days during the meet in February and March.

Pay: $14/hr.

Hours: Position needs to begin by November 4th, 2019

Flexible hours from November to early February. Approximately 10-12 hours a week. Manager will need to be present or have duties covered for each race day starting February 8th and running Saturday and Sundays through March 22nd. End date will be approximately March 27th. Approximately 20-25 hours per week during Meet.

Duties include:

-Working with management to select designs, develop Purchasing budget, and quantities of item to stock;

-Hire and schedule additional interns to work sale events leading up to Meet;

-Hire and schedule additional interns to work race meet;

-Report sales numbers, inventory sold and on-hand numbers, and related monies to Track comptroller.

Marketing, Sponsorships, and Media Coordinator

A Marketing Director is needed to plan and execute a Marketing, Sponsorship, and Media Campaign to support Rillito Race Track, Rillito Park Events, and Rillito Farmers’ Market. Applicant should have some marketing and sales experience. Spanish language skills a plus. A campaign to market, seek sponsors, and generate media coverage is needed to be launched in late November running through March.

Pay: $14/hr.

Hours: Position needs to begin by November 4th, 2019

Duties include:

-Overseeing all aspects of campaign;

-Working with Rillito Race Track’s Marketing Director, Dr. Ed Ackerley, to develop pre-meet press kit and sponsorship sales kit;

-Hire additional intern(s) to assist in sponsorship sales and marketing efforts;

-Develop relations with media and press to garner coverage.

-Assist with Race Day sponsorship implementation;

-Assist with Sponsorship, Program and Sign sales and coordination.

Equine Wellness Safety & Integrity Coordinator

A Coordinator is needed to assist in the administration of the Rillito Park Equine Wellness Program. The purpose of the 2020 Rillito Park Equine Wellness Program is to create a racing environment whereby the health and safety of horses and riders is a primary objective. The past performance information and available veterinary records on horses stabled on the grounds and/or entered to race will be monitored. Rillito Park will participate in the Jockey Club Equine Injury Database where all injuries and incidents requiring regulatory veterinary intervention will be recorded. Any horse with questionable soundness will be subject to a pre-entry and/or pre-race veterinary examination. Spanish language skills a plus.

Pay: $14/hr.

Hours: Position needs to begin by December 2nd, 2019

Minimal hours from December to late January (5 hour per week). Coordinator will need to be present or have duties covered for all training sessions (7:30 to 10:00am Tuesday through Friday starting January 28th, 2020), and each race day starting February 8th and running Saturday and Sundays through March 22nd. End date will be March 27th. Approximately 25-30 hours per week during Meet.

Duties include:

-Participation as and coordination of the Stewards’ Field Safety Aides who will:

-Work in close cooperation with the Board of Stewards;

-Monitor training in the mornings to insure proper on-track safety protocols, checking to make sure the outriders, human ambulance with a para-medic, and the horse ambulance are in place;

-Conduct safety checks during training to include proper use of protective helmets and safety vests;

-Observe the Saddling Paddock during the horse ID and saddling process;

-Watch schooling and race starts at the Starting Gate;

-Visit the test barn before, during and after the races, observing sample collection and chain of custody procedures;

-Check individuals for current and correct licensing status;

-Periodic presence in the barn area to monitor safety and integrity;

-Assists Track Veterinarians with pre-race exams and equine welfare during racing and training.

Assistant General Manager for Racing

An assistant to the GM is needed to help develop and manage the Rillito Park Race Meet. Applicant should have a general working knowledge of Horse Race Track Operations, including backside (barn area) to front-side day to day operations. Applicant should possess strong leadership skills as need to coordinate students’ placements in various positions. Assistant GM will take the lead of the PRISE Program, the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program for student intern participation. The PRISE Program gives RTIP students the opportunity to work in actual race related paid positions to make the race meet succeed. Spanish language skills a plus.

Pay: $14/hr.

-Assisting to organize the" PRISE "Student program assigning duties, jobs, schedules;

-Pre and Post Race meet Organizations and Reports;

-Current and new contract completions and reviews for vendors, import, export, horsemen, etc.;

-Assisting on an as need basis in all aspects of the organization (racing office, stewards, equine wellness, program development and sales, marketing, media, social media, etc.)

-Horsemen Relations;

-Gaming Commission Relationship and Presentations.
