Students in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS) will soon have a single portal to connect with our college’s network of support, services, and resources.
Starting on Monday, February 22, 2021 CALS is launching eSMS, a web-based electronic student management system. eSMS brings together, in one location, CALS academic advising, life management counseling, career center, event RSVP, convocation registration and more. In addition to web access, students can download the eSMS mobile app.
eSMS will launch with two core modules: academic advising and life management counseling. Additional modules will launch throughout the spring semester. In adopting eSMS, CALS joins two UArizona colleges already using the system – the Eller College of Management (creators of eSMS) and the A Center.
Improving the student experience, with a focus on increasing overall undergraduate retention and completion, is a primary goal of CALS. Prior to eSMS student access to the broad range of CALS services was siloed; each service running independently. The ability to holistically connect all CALS student supports – and the positive impact that will have on student awareness, access, and use – is a significant reason behind CALS’ decision to launch eSMS.
