Undergraduate research opportunities

UROC (pronounced you-rockis administered by the University of Arizona Graduate College, and provides participants with excellent research training and graduate school preparation through:

  • research experience under the guidance of a faculty mentor
  • professional development and graduate admission workshops 
  • social networking and a community building with like-minded peers
  • poster session, oral presentation, and abstract writing
  • a free comprehensive GRE workshop
  • A $5,000 summer stipend (award amount and disbursement varies by program)

Typical eligibility requirements:

  • Rising juniors and seniors* 
  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • 3.0 GPA or above
  • Strong interest in pursuing graduate education, particularly in earning a master’s or PhD

The Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) enhances undergraduate education by partnering with researchers and resources of the University of Arizona to provide opportunities for students to participate in mentored, self-directed work which contributes to the fund of new knowledge. Through UBRP, students learn the conduct of research, develop professional and communication skills, learn about a variety of biological research topics, and join a community of like-minded scholars.

The MARC Program is a unique research, mentoring, financial and academic opportunity for undergraduates belonging to a group considered underrepresented in biomedical research and who have the interest and potential to pursue a PhD or combined PhD (e.g. MD/PhD) degree. The program is a two-year program intended for the last two years of a student’s enrollment at the University of Arizona.

Internal Opportunities

Research and Project (ReaP) Grants fund research and projects for UA graduate, professional and undergraduate students that will be completed within one calendar year of the award date.

GPSC Research Grants

GPSC awards grants for UA graduate and professional student travel for professional development purposes. Students may submit one application per round and can receive a maximum of one Travel Grant per academic year.
