Laboratory facilities:

Perkin Elmer ELAN DRC II Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS)

This system was chosen to allow us to handle a variety of environmental samples such as drinking water, wastewater, and extracts/digests from soils, sediment or biosolids. The Dynamic Reaction Cell (DRC) helps to eliminate plasma-based polyatomic interferences by using alternate gases (such as ammonia) thus resulting in improved detection limits.

The instrument has been relocated to become part of the Arizona Laboratory for Emerging Contaminants (ALEC). Please see the ALEC page for information on detection limits and fees charged for sample analysis.

We offer other researchers the opportunity to use this instrument, with a fee charged to cover the operating costs. Please send written request by email to the lab manager Mary Kay Amistadi and a copy to Prof. Jon Chorover. We will contact you as soon as possible to discuss further details
