Nicolet Magna 560 Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer:

Infrared spectroscopy is used to characterize materials by examining the fingerprint pattern of the absorption peaks generated by the vibrations between bonds of atoms making up the substance. Depending on the sample type, the modes available to us include standard transmission, diffuse reflectance (DRIFT), and attenuated total reflectance (ATR).
