Origin: Native   Life Cycle: Annual
General Desc: Multi-branch annual with overall rounded form. Considered by some authorities to be weedy or invasive and will grow in disturbed areas.
Identification notes: Achenes with 2 white wings and strongly appressed, leaves toothed, leaves all or mostly alternate, corollas of disc flowers tubular, ray flowers strap-like distinguishes this species from other Asteraceae.
Height: 3 feet


Habitat

Habitat Description: Roadsides, waste areas and washes.
Plant Communities: Riparian, Disturbed Areas
Elevation: Below 7000 feet


Flower Characteristics

Color: Yellow     Shape: Daisy or dandelion-like not in clusters     Tubular: N     Flowering Period: Mar - Jul
Description: Rays are notched into 3 lobes. Both ray and disc flowers are yellow, to 2 inches wide. Has two germination periods: early from March to July and later from July to December.

Fruit Notes: Achenes to 3/8 inch long with 2 white wings.
