THOUGHTS FOR LEADERSHIP - A BAKER’S DOZEN

The difference between a follower and a leader is that a leader:

1. Improves over the predecessor.

2. Does not wait to be told to do things -- sees what needs to be done and follows through.

3. Comes up with new ideas to fill new needs which are always developing.

4. Attempts to make a contribution of something over and above the call of duty.

5. Is adept at analyzing people and situations.

6. Sees situations and problems from the viewpoint of the other person, as well as their own, and responds accordingly.

7. Is considerate of, and helpful to, those of lesser experience.

8. Has time for meeting ant talking with strangers and new people.

9. Main concern is what is best for the majority of the total group.

10. Is subject to inspiration from members as well as supervisors.

11. Is always receptive to new ideas and considers them along with old and established ideas.

12. Sees a total situation and explores various means for dealing with it.

13. Is a servant to whatever cause is supported.
