Leslie Allen came to the University of Arizona from the Phoenix area. She worked as an Administrative Assistant to an Engineering Company before taking time off to serve a church mission in Hungary. She became fluent in Hungarian and grew to love the people and their culture. Upon her return to the States, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for an Aviation Company, managing surplus airplane parts. Her husband was accepted into the UA College of Pharmacy, which brought both of them to Tucson.
Leslie has been an Administrative Assistant for the Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences since October 2015. She serves as liaison to faculty, staff, students, alumni, outside agencies and the general public. Within weeks of her hire, Leslie was receiving praises for her professionalism, her positive attitude and her ability to provide quick responses to requests. She is friendly, welcoming, and always professional whether dealing with faculty, staff, students, candidates, the Norton School Alumni Council, and visitors.
No matter the task, Leslie uses initiative and sees beyond the assignment to offer constructive suggestions on how to improve a process. A great example of her abilities was her assistance involving the move of Agriculture and Resource Economics into the Norton School Building. This lengthy and complicated process involved many building renovations along with learning the process to submit unneeded furnishings to the new UA Surplus online system. Leslie was invaluable during the complicated transition, which benefited Norton School in numerous ways.
Leslie takes on technology-related tasks with enthusiasm and diligence. She is the primary Norton School contact for UAVitae, offering assistance to the faculty and the Director to assure the UAVitae process is complete and accurate.
Our Alumni Council benefits from her assistance with many of the Norton School events from Homecoming to graduation receptions and all things in between. Her pleasant and engaging personality make Leslie a true joy to work with.
