Professional Achievement Award 2006 - Gail Price Grossetta

Gail Price Grossetta's professional life has been an international journey since studying Merchandising at the University of Arizona. While at the University, she served as Secretary of Mortar Board, National Commander of Angel Flight, and a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1965, Gail traveled with her husband, Bruce, and their daughter, Holly, during his 26 year career in the United States Air Force. Stationed abroad for seventeen years, they lived and worked on four continents and traveled to more than 100 countries, learning Spanish and Italian along the way. Wherever they were stationed, Gail's major focus was helping families. Gail supported military families with adjustments to their new locations, especially involving cross cultural relations. Sometimes, the young families struggled with their new surroundings and really had what we now call “culture shock”. Additionally, in the international arena, Gail was the manager/buyer of a gift shop in the Philippines, gave leadership seminars at the American Women’s Association in Germany, and chaired a large international charity bazaar in Vicenza, Italy.

Gail and Bruce decided to return to their roots in Arizona and retired in Tucson. After returning to Tucson in 1991, Gail taught Cross Cultural Relations and International Business at Pima Community College. She developed her own, small consulting company, Grossetta International, LLC., which is a resource on diversity and inter-cultural connections. Since starting to work in retail at age 15 at Walgreens, Gail believes all experiences have worked together for successes in business and life. A life-long volunteer, Gail is a member of the Arizona Mexico Commission, Women at the Top, and Arizona Town Hall to name just a few. She has enjoyed studying for a master's degree (Troy State University, Alabama, 1979), obtained a private pilot’s license, and recently hiked the Grand Canon “rim to rim”. For her outstanding work to help individuals and families develop cross cultural understandings the Council is proud to recognize Gail Price Grossetta.
