Young Achiever Award 2005 - Patricia T. Warrington

Patricia (Patti) Warrington received her Ph.D. degree with a major in Retailing and Consumer Science in 2002 from the University of Arizona. Her B.A. and M.B.A. were earned at Texas Christian University. Dr. Warrington is currently an Assistant Professor in Consumer Sciences and Retailing at Purdue University. She exemplifies a professional educator who has been able to combine expertise gained from a career in the retailing industry with advanced education in her field. In doing so, she brings diverse experiences from her careers in both business and education to instruction and research in the field.

Dr. Warrington began her career in the retail industry with Sanger Harris Department Stores where she worked in several capacities including buying, sales management, merchandise management, and merchandising analysis. She then moved into the higher education area at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas where she was employed as a business development specialist and as the Director of the Small Business Development Center, as well as an instructor in Business Statistics and Marketing. Since joining Purdue University as an educator and researcher, she has been active in the profession through service to various professional organizations and has received recognition for the quality of her research. Dr. Warrington strives to provide learning experiences for her students that build confidence, foster self-esteem, and enhance students' potentials for success as they seek to fulfill their personal and professional hopes and ambitions. Patricia Warrington is recognized for her contributions in business and education and because she continues to make a strong contribution as an active researcher and instructor in the field of Retailing and Consumer Sciences.
