The Bacteria Lab concentrates mainly on bacteria, but also performs analysis for mold, yeast and parasites. The lab has analyzed a wide diversity of samples such as international beers, cell phones, purses, cars, dust, biosolids, soaps, hospitals, bathrooms, offices, homes, pillows, water, remote controls, etc. Sheri Maxwell is a research specialist who has been managing the lab since 2000. She has 12 years experience in the environmental laboratory bacterial methodologies. Sheri got her initial inspiration for microbiology from Dr. Patricia Rusin in 1994 while attending a micro class at Pima. Within months, Sheri was employed in the Rusin Lab (Bacteria Lab) under the direction of Dr. Gerba and has been there ever since. The lab employes graduate and undergraduate students. |
