Arizona SciTech Events

The Arizona SciTech Festival is a state-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) held annually in February and March. Through a series of over 400 expos, workshops, conversations, exhibitions and tours held in diverse neighborhoods throughout the state, the Arizona SciTech Festival excites and informs Arizonans of all ages about how STEM will drive our state for next 100 years. Range Rocks! participated in multiple SciTech events in the Verde Valley this Spring. We demonstrated our Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) machine, brought different examples of rain gauges, discussed how anyone could be citizen scientists through the CoCoRahs program (CoCoRaHS is an acronym for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network.  CoCoRaHS is a network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow)., and explained different soil testing tools and how to identify native vegetation types common to the area. It was a great way to meet excited future Arizona scientists!
